The conventional wisdom says women use 20,000 words a day, while men only use 7,000.Is this correct?

A story in today’s New York Times says no. They quote a study from Science Magazine where 396 subjects wore tiny microphones. The results: Men and Women speak roughly the same amount of words everyday.

So what does this mean? Despite the fact you think your significant other will never shut up about the dishes, guys, you still on average speak as much as she does.
